Off To The Land Of Mozart: Vienna, Austria
September 11-26, 2015
Prior to the idea of visiting Vienna I confess I really didn’t know a lot about the city. The more I researched it via books, web articles and YouTube travel videos, though, the more I became intrigued. We finally decided to visit this amazing city and experience it for ourselves.
Vienna is the home of many famous music composers, arrangers and performers. Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Brahms, Bruckner, Schubert, and various members of the Strauss family, either lived or worked in the city; many are buried there. And, of course, we can’t forget… Falco!
Music and art abound in Vienna; it’s home to some of the world’s best art galleries and museums, such as The Kunsthistorisches Museum (The Museum of Art History), and the Klimt exhibits at the Belvedere Palace. The Albertina Museum houses a world-renowned collection of prints, drawings and paintings from Monet to Picasso.
Vienna is the legacy of the Habsburg dynasty which ruled over large areas of Europe for many centuries. The sheer bling they left behind is unrivalled.
Ah, and then there’s the food… Sachertorte anyone?
I’d say it’s high time to check all of this out…
